Upcoming 2012:
Returns to Anchorage Opera to direct Macbeth in 2012. 2010-11 Season NYCO: Assistant Director for Intermezzo and Seance on a Wet Afternoon; Concert staging of Gretry’s Richard Coeur de Lion for American Classical Orchestra.

Cynthia Edwards has staged new productions of Carmen and Eugene Onegin for Anchorage Opera, Il Trovatore for Florida Grand Opera, Tosca for Opera Delaware, Carmen for Baltimore Opera and the Ashlawn-Highland Summer Festival, and six productions for Harrisburg Opera, most recently Pagliacci. Concert stagings include Gretry’s Zemire et Azor for the American Classical Orchestra and Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona, starring baritone Sanford Sylvan, which marked her debut with the Carmel Bach Festival.

At New York City Opera, where she has been a Stage Director since 1988, Ms. Edwards has mounted revivals of Jonathan Eaton's production of Carmen, Frank Corsaro's Tosca, Die Tote Stadt and Ravel double bill, Tito Capobianco's Mefistofele and Rigoletto, and Theodore Pappas' Merry Widow; has traveled with the company to Saratoga, Costa Mesa, Wolf Trap and Artpark; and served as Assistant Director and liaison for the "Live from Lincoln Center" telecast of Eaton's Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci.  Last season she assisted Christopher Alden on the company’s celebrated new production of Don Giovanni. During the 2010-11 season she will assist on a revival of Intermezzo and new productions of three Monodramas and Stephen Schwartz’s Séance on a Wet Afternoon.
